O.K. lets hear it what have you dropped from your stand? guns, bows arrows, bullets. I've dropped everything I ever brought up a tree at one time or another, except myself, and thats only because I had a safety harness, now I tether everything from me, my pack, gun, bow, clothes, seat pad, thermos, thermacell, even pee btl. kinda like being on a boat, guaranteed anything dropped goes overboard.
I am famous for dropping my extra shirt or jacket. I got a 5/0 treble hook and cut the barbs off with side cutters, and rounded the edges off. I keep it in the shirt pocket of my safety harness. Now if I drop anything, I just clip the hook on my pull up rope and snag whatever I dropped.
Last year I did drop my bow. I got a cheap ass pull rope from D icks and the little adjuster slipped and my bow went tumbling to the ground. It fell on the quiver and broke all my arrows, which absorbed the shock. Ive shot it 1000 times since then and had it checked by 2 bow shops for problems. I got really lucky
Myself, countless hats and water bottles, an ejected .243 cartridge that was stuck when I tried to shoot a pig. It of course hit every rung on the way down. Saw my dad drop a rem 742 out of his stand once.
I am not proud to admit it but I dropped a Mathews Switchback out of my climber 18 feet up. I take my quiver off everytime I hunt and hang it with my backpack. Well out steps this pretty 6 point and starts feeding on acorns and I proceeded to miss him. He didnt spook to bad and calmed down and started feeding again so I set my bow down on the rail on the front of the climber and turned around to grab another arrow and you guessed it bumped my bow and knocked it off onto the ground. To add insult to injury he fed on acorns for another 5 minutes while I am sitting there with no bow.
The worst glasses hardest thing to fish back up even with the treble hook set up I have. Don't need them to shoot with but everything else. Can't read or do anything close without glasses.
