Hoss74- No, theories alone do not make a man smart. Yet much of Darwin's work was substantiated by science in the years that followed, yet some questions weren't fully answered either way. But, this is not evidence of him being an idiot. When looking back in history we can find many examples of men who are considered to be brilliant minds who had ideas that were later proven wrong. Isaac Newton for instance. He had ideas about light that were primitive and more or less innacurate to our modern eyes....by your reasoning this negates all his other accomplishments and he is an idiot.
I am not a Darwin supporter. However I do recognize his signifigance to the advancement of science in the field of biology. I think it's pretty unfair to label a man who, without the benefit of modern equipment like computers or electronic microscopes, did what he did in the field of biology. He studied EARTHWORMS and established their true importance to healthy farming in a time when they were considered pests for instance. He published 4 works on BARNACLES that are still used by marine biologists today. There are other examples.
I would wager that you have been seriosly wrong on something in your life. Would it be fair of us to disregard everything you've ever done aside from that and judge your level of intelligence or mental capacity by it? I don't believe so.
We're all good for something and some great for one thing. He put his pants on just like me. If he were alive today, I'm quite sure (if he were on this thread) he would call me an idiot. That's okay. I'm not here to please anyone on the Internet. If I were, then I truly would be an idiot. There really is only one entity that I set out to please. That would be the Lord. Given the fact that Darwin's work led many to not believe the Lord's word, I am quite confident calling him an idiot. 😆
Einstein once said he sought to know God's thoughts. . . Therefore, Einstein is my scientific idol. I always favored physics and chemistry over biology anyway 😀
I can't believe you really said that....
Einstein is your scientific idol because he said wanted to know God's thoughts? Did you take any time to see what God? HE didn't believe in a Judeo-Christian idea of a God. In fact he once said:
"I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his creatures, or has a will of the type of which we are conscious in ourselves. An individual who should survive his physical death is also beyond my comprehension, nor do I wish it otherwise; such notions are for the fears or absurd egoism of feeble souls. "
"I have repeatedly said that in my opinion the idea of a personal God is a childlike one."
"From the viewpoint of a Jesuit priest I am, of course, and have always been an atheist.... "
There's lots more out there on this topic.
Darwin would have stood beside you at the local church (he did faithfully support his local church and attended with his family) and had a friendly debate with you on stuff. Einstein wouldn't have even been there and would have mocked both of you in letters for even attending church.
I doubt Darwin would call you an idiot, but he might call you ignorant.
Here's an Einstein quote that hopefully relates to more than just a few of us:
"When God created the ass he gave him a thick skin."
Hoss, I don't want to make a personal attack here, but you sound very impressionable and easily led, as if someone else were putting this garbage in your head. my unsolicited 2 cents, find another mentor.
It really doesn't matter if Einstein believed in the same God as me, as long as he acknowledges a God. I really just have a problem with the egotistical nature of some people to think nothing is better than humans.
Nachogrande... if I told you ... I was once semi blind in one eye because of a condition that Doctors said could be operated after I was 18 and most of my facial structure was finished growing. I had a blocked tear duct that left a constant haze on my eyeball and left me with the nickname "buggar eye" in school.
One day when I was thirteen the 700 Club was on t.v. in the living room and I was home alone. I really wasn't watching it, it just happened to be on after morning cartoons. I was 12 years old and I heard in the background on the t.v. that guy Pat whatever say "someone is watching this has a condition with their eye that needs healing. Please place your hand on the t.v. and pray with me.".... well I did and guess what... I went from semi blind to better than perfect vision. No joke.
I wasn't a big believer, nor was my family. We had a belief, just not a strong one. I don't believe some guy healed me through television waves through the t.v. I honestly believe a higher power did. That was the only influence in my life. If I were "easily led" I wouldn't be so stubborn on this subject, now would I?.... lol
Swear to GOD. Anyway I give up on this thread. Everyone is going to think and believe what they want anyway.
