Cool site, FLQ! Thanks for the link.
I stocked up on the wrong kind! I totally forgot about 22 lr ammo...
Having gone through several different shortages (primers, powder, ammo) in last 25 years, I've learned to stock up on everything when ever there is a good deal.
Back in 1991 I was involved in group buys were several of us ordered 190,000 45 ACP cast bullets and I still have about 10,000 cast bullets from that purchase. Remember about 12 years ago when Century Arms was selling IMG 5.56 for $112 per 1k delivered? Friends and I ordered that stuff by the pallet and I'm still using that stuff as plinking ammo in my AR rifles. In my ammo lock I still have several dozen Walmart's Winchester 9mm 100 pack that has $9.99 price tag on them.
Unfortunately you have to have access to cash to get in on some real good deals that will save you a lot of money down the road.
smart move KC... I wish I would have been old enough to care about anything besides going out and girls back when ammo was cheap..
I hoarded early last year and am sooooooo glad I did.. sitting pretty now, but once prices come back down i'm stocking up for decades of use.. prices will always go up, buy in bulk for best price you can and 5 years from now you'll be happy you did..
Just bought 600 Rounds of Winchester 115 Grain FMJ 9MM in 100 round boxes for $24.50 per 100 at a Walmart, $166.00 out the door. I am set on 9MM for a bit again. Finally found .30-30 ammo at a Walmart also for $16.00 a box of 20, and bought me 120 rounds of it. Best price I had seen on .30-30 was over $25.00 for a box of 20 and best price I had seen on 9mm for 500 rounds was $425.00. The ammo deals are still out there but you really, really have to search, alot!
