I want to get into a new hobby and have been looking a bit to see what kind of competitive shooting I want to do. At 19 years of age, I don't think I can buy a pistol to do pistol shooting competition yet. I have an ar-15, a savage 17hmr, mossberg 500 20ga. I'm trying to figure out what kind of competitive shooting I could do in Orlando area and where I can learn more about that kind of stuff. I'd be interested in pistol shooting, rifle, and maybe skeet shooting. I just love shooting and want to take it to the next level. Help me out guys. =)

I'm sure there are plenty of trap clubs that have competitive teams at local ranges. I think youre too old for scouts or 4h, but could look into it. you may have to hang with us old farts, and don't feel bad when some old geezer in a wheel chair hits 23 oughta 25, it's kinda humbling but happens alot and alot of those old geezers have nobody to pass along their knowledge to and would look forward to taking a raw kid under their wing, it's a win /win for both. I did a trap season in 82 at the denver gun club and the way it worked was 5 -5 man teams that would shoot 5 rounds ( 5- sets of 25 clay birds) each week for 5 weeks. with each shooter trowing in 5$ each round ( 25$ ) a week. at the end of the 5 weeks each member of the winning team would walk away with 300$, back then enough to buy a new gun ( depending ). I'm sure prices have gone up since.

I shot competitive 10M air rifle when I was a bit younger. It was a lot of fun. 3 positions, 10 targets per position, 300 possible points. It's a lot of fun. Have no idea about how you would go about getting into such a thing, as it was a high school organized thing when I did it.

don't need a ccp to own a pistol. not sure what the purchase age is in fl,cuz I've long passed it. I know they do bowling pin matches at chazz. I have a ruger redhawk in 357 ( only made for 1-2 yrs ) customized for competition by gunsmith/comp shooter/editor of guns and ammo mag Jack wiegand I may be talked into parting with
