Smart move! I started as a salesperson 15 years ago and am now GSM of the Bay Areas largest Honda Dealership. It's hard at first, but it will pay off. Once you get established you should easily make $10K per month or more.

Here's some free advise.
Find common ground with your up.
Don't let the other guys black you out.
Never judge the up (don't judge book by it's cover).
Leave your BS at the door.
Avoid upping any Arabic or Asian people aka. Too Highs.
Follow up with your people.
Let everyone you know and meet know your in the business.
Prospect outside the dealership.

For weeks I've been wondering what "too high" meant.
Today Mr. Chow wanted a '14 prius 3 with backup camera and navigation. We gave him and out the door price of 25,500 tax, tag, title ...everything

If I heard "too high" once, I heard it a thousand times.
I'm still on training pay til Thursday, but all is going well.

You cannot insult them, in their culture the negotiations are done when both parties wish death upon each other. Seriously they will grind you to death and then ask for more. I throw them out of my dealership on a daily basis. Just wait until you get an Arab that tells you paying interest is against their religion. Trust me selling imports you get them all.

Oh yes the Too High's. Closing them is an art in itself that none have perfected. I disagree on the insult part. I believe that they expect it and I have seen where they thought they disrespected me and finally said yes. Remember this as I have..Their friends sent them in with number they know cant be done but will force you to show your low end, you have to start them high, hell even higher than the sticker, so when you do get to the bottom they will hopefully think its enough. They will buy so hang in there with them.
