"If Nothin Don't Happen" is always one of my favorites. Its about life in the Gulf Hammock area back in the early 1900's.
That is without a doubt one of the funniest books I've ever read.
lots of old classics about hunting in Africa, but gun/ammo info is dated. not as much about hunting is "no second place winner" by one of my favorite writers Bill Jordan, now deceased. more of a dog training manual- the training and care of the versatile hunting dog by Sigbot "Bodo" Winterhelt and Edward Bailey. published by NAVDA (north American versatile hunting dog association 1973) is a good read. Bodo grew up in Germany training dogs for nazis and bred and introduced his favorite breed the pudel pointer via Canada app in the 50's- 60's, he also founded NAVDA as the akc still today does not recognize many good breeds. lots of good training tips. my best friend bought 2 dogs from him and was invited to live on Bodos ranch a few months to train them. hunting over those dogs were the best hunting of my life. if theres a dog breeder/trainer hall of fame he should surely be in it. my bud lent me his autographed copy when I bought my Brittany's in 2000, I suppose I should return it soon.
I've read some of Steve Chapman's books. The one I really liked was "With God on a Deer Hunt". I also like Ted Nugent's "Kill It and Grill It Cookbook". He gives info on his hunts as well as cooking tips :rockon
God Guns and rock n roll was another good 1
