Everyone that's been here for a while remembers last year my moms health took a turn for the worst (during bow season). She was near death a couple times and we were told on two occasions to start making final preparations and call any family in that was needed.
From Sept to June she was in and out of hospitals and rehab centers and had several major surgeries. A couple of them we did not know if she would wake up from. It took a toll on me and my sister, and I barely worked at all. I devoted all my time to seeing for her and only worked when I absolutely had to. Missed 90% of hunting season and barely saw my own family.
We finally got her home in June and believe it or not she has been healthier than ever. At this point, other than very bad arthritis, she is healthy as a 76 year old lady can be. She has gotten off of all her meds except her thyroid pill which she will need forever. Her blood work is better than mine. Still wheel chair bound, but she can walk to get short distances as needed. Her arthritis and cartiledge degeneration in her knees just won't let her walk too far.
Tomorrow, me and my sister take her in for one final surgery. Just a very simple procedure that is sorta pre planned. She had a feeding tube inserted back months ago due to her lack of appetite and refusal to eat or drink. We kind of forced her to have it done or go to a nursing home as we couldn't care for her without it..
The tube has not been used for medical reasons in over four months other than a daily flush to keep it open. This is an outpatient procedure to have it removed, and we should have her home by the afternoon. This will conclude any medical procedures she will need, unless she decides later on to have her ostomy reversed.
And with that, I hope this brings a final closure to what has been a nightmare to our family. I hope to not see the inside of a hospital for years to come
Thanks for all the prayers along the way, and could use one more quick one tomorrow
