agree with DXT, the dairy farms and fruit/vegetable packing houses always have refrig techs out there. i know cause they always have plumbers too. a/c is a profitable business to be in, if you are the boss or you can get hooked up with some good sidework. my dad worked in a/c for around 20 years and was ALWAYS busy. got out of it due to back problems from crawling thru attics and such. good luck with it, hope you find what you are looking for.
Agreeing with the others, and as I was in on the corporate end of the HVAC/R side..... If anything you want to get into the HVAC/R with a strong hand into the refrigeration side. You can go anywhere in the country with a strong refrigeration background, more then just a/c .

get a job with a refrig company as a helper while you are going to school
