I am thinking of going to school for HVAC. I was hoping to hear from someone that is already in this line of work to let me know thier thoughts. I am leaning towards Southern Technical College. They provide an AS in HVAC. I am retired military and looking for a second career. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks :coast :salute3d

Supposedly, this school trains for residential and commercial. You will walk out with all your EPA certifications according to the school rep.

i went to travis tech in lakeland for my certification.it was a good school then and didn"t cost much at all,but i'm not sure if they are still in business or still offer the ac coarse.also you could check into the local pipe fitters union they have an excellent 4 yr journey man coarse for ac and refrigeration.i have a neighbor that went thru that school and he is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the business.he now works for a large union ac contractor and makes excellent money.i can tell you from exp.that becoming a state certified contractor and operating your own business is definately the way to go in this business.alot of other trades have suffered in this economy but ac repair and service is a necessity in florida..stay away from new construction :puke the best part of ac work is our slow season is also hunting season and after these brutal hot summers nothing is better to me than enjoying the woods 20ft high with my rifle in my hand.good luck to ya
