Something to think long and hard about as the nation starts another dialog on guns.
I truly believe that the 2nd Amendment is the single most important part of our Constitution.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An interesting slant on things

AMERICA'S HUNTERS --- Pretty Amazing!

The world's largest army...America 's hunters!
I had never thought about this...

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a
handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters this season
in the state of Wisconsin ..
Allow me to restate that number:
600,000

Over the last several months,
Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in
the world.

More men under arms than in Iran .

More than France and Germany combined.

These men deployed to the woods of a single
American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with
firearms -- and no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000
who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and
Michigan's 700,000 hunters,
all of whom have now returned home safely.
Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia
and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters
of those four states alone would comprise
the largest army in the world.
And then add in the total number of hunters in
the other 46 states.
It's millions more.

The point?

America will forever be safe
from foreign invasion with that
kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting... it's not just a way to fill the freezer.
It's a matter of national security.

***************************************

That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic,
want to see us disarmed.

Overall it's true,
so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters
don't possess the same skills as soldiers,
the question would still remain...
What army of 2 million would want to face
30, 40, or 50 million armed citizens???

:saluting :pow

Almost supports the argument that we don't need "assault weapons" since we can defend ourselves with basic hunting rifles.

SKEWS ME AN AR IS NOT A ASSUALT GUN IT IS A SPORTING GUN---- DONT HELP THEM OUT HERE

An assault rifle is a select-fire (either fully automatic or burst capable) rifle :chain that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine. It is not to be confused with assault weapons.[1] Assault rifles are the standard service rifles in most modern armies. Assault rifles are categorized in between light machine guns, which are intended more for sustained automatic fire in a light support role, and submachine guns, which fire a pistol cartridge rather than a rifle cartridge.

Examples of assault rifles include the StG 44, AK-47,[2] M16 rifle, QBZ-95, INSAS, Heckler & Koch G36, and Enfield SA80.

An ar 15 ==a powerfull, semi-automatic, civilian version of the US Army's M16. Legal to own in most states execpt CA. A good gun

and semi auto rifles/shotguns/handguns --are not a assault gun -- most hunters own these do you ? please be carefull how you describe a hunting gun

be a informed american and protect what you are entitled too and keep what you have !!!

The problem being they are going to say Assault "Style" weapons in a new ban which could include any semi automatic rifle. Your president is probably going to try and pull the same type stunt he pulled with Obama Care and do an executive order and let the supreme court rule on it....

The definition they will use for Assault Weapons will most likely include all semi automatic rifles. This could effect firearms like the Browning BAR, Winchester 100, Remington 740, 742, 7400, all AR's, AK's, SKS's, M1 Carbine and Garand, Ruger Mini 14 & 30, M1A1, etc.

The President will be on national TV at 1145 am today to lay out his general plan.

Yep, thousands of old, fat guys armed with an assortment of non-standard firearms would sure scare any of today's armies.
