RUGER VS THOMPSON CENTER: whats your favorite and why? I've always wanted one or 2, 22/250 for target and 280 or 30-06 for hunting.I'm kinda leaning towards the ruger #1 for looks and no external hammer, at close range I think deer can hear the hammer cock. but like the versatility idea of the thompson and being able to swap out bbl's. what's your opinion?

Well I have a T/C Encore Pro Hunter M/L and a 308 Barrel Both are Tack Drivers Haven't missed anything i have aimed at ,,,the M/L at 50 yrds 3 rounds touhing each other in the bull, the 308 the same, at 100 yrds 3 rounds in the size of a silver dollar in the bull.. the 308 will not shoot lead bullets worth a hoot but jhp , any hunting load i've tried works great...

Well the trigger is a 5 lb pull, i don't know about the lock , i have had it for 4 yrs and haven't had a problem with either the M/L or the 308.... This may be a single shot but i wouldn't trade it for anything...But you know Gun owners , i also have a ruger redhawk 7 1/2 44 mag pistol, i would also like a lever action 44 mag just for the wants

I have a Ruger no1B in 22-250 also in 270win, 7mm and 7mm stw I like the wood on the older ones when you can find them. The guns weigh 8 plus pounds when a scope and rings are add the gun is going to weigh 9 plus pounds so that helps with the recoil on the big calibers. Theres not a lot that can or will go wrong with the gun. I have nothing bad to say about the T/C I have not owned one but have shot them they shot good but just never bought one.
