True. And the off chance that a tiger might take you off the elephant's back keeps things a little more interesting than waiting for hog to come to a pile of corn.

Been reading this subject (since it's rainin' outside) and find that we all have different opinions and they are all valid because of the great country we live in. Years ago my wife bought me a Colt Trooper and I got the idea I would try and kill a deer with it. I carried it for a while, but always with a rifle in my hand. Several opportunities came along, but some how I always wanted venison on the ground and would end up killin' the deer with the rifle rather than the .357. Needless to say, I'm not a hand gun hunter and haven't given it a thought in years. In my hunting experiences here in Florida a reliable .22 revolver, loaded with 1/2 rat shot and 1/2 hollow points ought to be all you would need. I've run across more rattlesnakes and moccasins than I like to recall and that rat shot always does a number on 'em. There is room here for argument for a larger caliber and as the issues change, hog huntin' and even that personal protection issue from the 2 legged snake that you might encounter. Treefarmer
