I agree that a loaded 1911 pistol is heavy but when you use a good quality matching belt and holster it doesn't feel heavy. I carry mine in a Milt Sparks IWB Summer Special holster with a matching Milt Sparks 1 1/2" leather belt or 1 1/2" reinforced leather belt from 5.11 (I also carry a spare mag in pouch). I have carried this or other 1911 pistols in this rig this for past 20+ years. I carry it all day and never felt bothered by it.

I guess we can get used to anything if we try it long enough.

I do and it still does. but agree it helps considerably. the safariland thigh retention holster is about the most comfortable and secure rig I've found so far.

I have a Safariland 6000 series thigh holster for use with railed 1911 with tactical light.
Only problem I have had with thigh holsters is that the pistol grip tends to bang into everything when walking around.
I still have that holster as I may use it when out hunting hogs at night.
