680 yds? what you gonna shoot that far out? what ever you are shooting at is gonna be able to serve it back to you with a ping pong paddle. There would be nothing left energy wise on that round that far out. what is the hold over at 680 yds? 50 feet? just lobbing chunks of lead out there. imo

no, the scope was DEAD on at 680.

there was no hold over.

I gotta go to the range again and set it up for 100-200 yrds

sorry to tell ya, but to shoot a 30-30 with lead head bullets , you have a heck of alot of hold over. might be adjusted with the contraption mounted on the gun, but there is a whole lot of hold over. the Hornady leverevolution 140 gmx load has 12" of drop at 300 yds. and it is about the best 30-30 load out there. better ballistically shaped bullets ( pointed with a polymer tip) will try to figure the drop on you shots with a ballistic calculator. By no means should you even consider shooting an animal or zombie with a 30-30 at that kind of range. there is nothing left energy wise on that bullet that far out. just saying

I shoot a Marlin 336 30-30 with Leverevolution ammo and it does have 12" of drop at 300 yards. And there is no way there is NO hold over at the range your suggesting.
