mine was a 1946 mdl in 16 ga, looked like hell but fit me perfect and shot right where I was looking. people were smaller then and lop's shorter. just stock up on ammo when you find it. I couldn't find low brass and thats all they let you shoot for trap/skeet at chazz. congrats. those tolerances are so close they recomend only removing the bbl for basic cleaning. I sprayed mine liberaly with degreaser and fired a few boxes thru it and the gunk that came out was unreal but much cleaner when done.

Thanks for the info, I hope I will not have trouble with ammo, I did buy a box at the gun show this weekend had to pay 8.00 for a box of #8 semi low brass. havent searched the internet yet. I cant wait to shoot it, It looks and feels tight the action feels smooth the inside of barrel looks like a mirror but I think I will have the local Gunsmith look at it before I shoot it after all it is over 60 years old.

in a gun that old I would expect there to be some laquer built up in it, but the degreaser and firing kinda cleaned itself out. unless you are very mechanical or have a lot of exp with auto 5 takedowns and re-assembly I'd listen to their advice and not try to disasemble further than bbl removal. if interested in a cool browning look up the double auto mdl it's pretty slick and the first gun John Browning jr invented, but I shot the a-5 in 16 ga better.

No I am definately not going to disassemble any further, Way too many moving parts for a dumb A** like me, I just wanted to give it a good cleaning. I searched the web a little for ammo and found a Natchez shooting supply Rio shot shells #8 for under $7.
