bright/shiny brass is mostly for looks/cosmetic and wouldn't really effect anything unless VERY pitted and gummy. the bulging I spoke of happens at the bottom of the seated bullet. my bro never owned a tumbler or cleaned his brass and loaded thousands of 44 mags (they looked like hell, but worked fine) with the press clamped to the tailgate of his pickup when in the field and I'm using that rockchucker press today.

Sounds like an unsupported barrel
