What are the few others in the $1000-1500 range? As far as the Marlin goes, as Treefarmer stated that's a fair price as long as the condition is "high". Goodoyster is spot on about the Higgins guns, in 25 years of collecting I've never seen a Higgins marketed gun bring more than $350 and that was an odd ball gauge, choke and barrel configured gun.
Any Winchester shotguns?
I'm going to get the specifics on all the guns. I have searched for articles on the Higgins guns and have yet to see anything of value. I will post the model of the gun today. A friend of mine agreed to purchase two shotguns from him last night so we will be going over to pick them up.
That would be great. Post up a list or PM the list if you don't want it posted. TKS-Rob
I do not have the list yet, but I did speak with the gentlemen. It is an LC smith single barrel shotgun that is worth the $$$. Not a Jc Higgins.
All right then eaj1010! "L.C.Smith" changes the story. Looking in a Gun Traders Guide, 32nd addition (2010) they list 6 grades of the single shot trap guns :skeet , lower grade is called Olympic grade, lists from NRA good at $1107 up to Nib for $1960. The High end gun is called a Deluxe grade and it ranges from $7992 for the good to $14,464 for a New in Box. A note says that these prices are for L.C.Smith guns made by Hunter. Guns manufactured by Marlin generally bring about 1/3 lower.
Gun prices are so variable depending on who is selling and who is buying, so be extra careful! Don't do much in the way of present market values so I'm not sure how the recent run on guns has affected this type of shotgun's value. An L.C.Smith is usually a prize in any ones gun collection. Also mentioned was the fact these guns were discontinued in 1951.
Good luck on your gun tradin' adventure!
