I got a new marlin 336 last year but the trigger sucks. Can a gunsmith do some work on it? Or would it be better to bite the bullet and spend $90 on a new trigger. I put a bold trigger on my mauser which was easy and cost less but it made a world of difference.

There is a trigger kit they talk about on the Marlin forums. Eliminates all the slop and stuff. I may do mine as my next project

Yah I don't want to mess with it.My gunsmith will do a trigger job for 65.00. I think I will go that route.
