I got a Winchester 94 that I just can't bring myself to sell. I originally told my wife that I would keep it for a while and then sell it since I got a good deal on it. That was a long time ago. I still haven't gotten to the selling part of the deal. Good thing she's forgotten about that gun! :rambo
thats right. a scope on a lever is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me, but then my vision aint 20/10 anymore, let alone the crappy balance from vertigo and constant back pain, but other than that and an extra 150 lbs I'm doin great.actualy I'm cosidering one of those "SMALL" see thru red dot heads up displays with unlimited eye relief for the winchester and will have to break the code of the west, forgive me John Wayne.and rob I've never owned a 20 guage. bought a ruger 28 ga o/u english stock because my hunting bud bought his first in 20 ga and didn't want to be twinsees. beutiful gun and wood but I just can't hit squat with it I'm like 4 for 100 with it on pheasant over good pointing dogs. had to move to a lower gauge cuz we were mutilating them with 12 ga and 7 1/2 shot. it is by far the easiest carrying and lightning fast to the shoulder, quiet ( don't even need ear plugs) and would be just the ticket for grouse, woodcock and quail, which I started my hunting with in college in 1975. and btw Vonnick I used to get my beer money in college buying and selling guns from one store to the other, no ffl no real paper work and if I made 5$ I was happy cuz drafts at the school bar ( drinking age 18 ) were 25cents, and nobody objected to having firearms in a dorm room back then. used to grouse hunt with the dean of students and learned to trap shoot from the hip from the gov's brother. things were good in N.H. in 1975. guess the campus police would frown on dealing guns from a dorm room nowadays. will never trade or sell that 28 ga but maybe we can work a deal for that rem 20. how could I have ever made it this far without one? by far I shoot my 1946 sweet 16 the best. saw the smithy today and picked up my slug gun and left him your info. would like to hunt the NE woods for birds with leaves in full folliage again, hard to think of anything that even compares. however one of those mule drawn wagon quail hunts sound nice
I've made some shots with my BLR that I had to take a sec and say "did I really just kill that hog?" I shot one crossing a road I swear was 250 yards running one time. I could get it on a running animal quick and reload quick if needed. Shot a deer running across a field that was 150 running.
I don't live on campus, thankfully....but I don't even think having ammunition is legal on school property any longer. I know I get real nervous around hunting season, cause with my bad luck, I'll leave a couple rounds in the car somewhere and get harassed by one of our lovely campus police officers and end up in jail and my ugly mug plastered on the news.
I really think I'da done much better in society if I was born about 20-30 years earlier than I was. Ain't much left that appeals to me about "modern life."
even if you can blindfold them with a piece of liguine, them rice noshin sob's make a nice gun, just don't let them drive your car.
