Since I am broke most of the time, I don't get to shoot nearly as often as I'd like. I used to shoot A LOT, and I got pretty good at it due to all the practice. Since moving down here and living the city life, I've gotten rusty and it pisses me off. I still have the proper mechanics and know what I'm doing, but I just need more time behind a gun, especially shooting unsupported.
That being said, I want to get a pellet gun to shoot here at my place. I have already built a silent trap, and now I'm looking for a pellet rifle that is at a budget price that will provide decent accuracy and be mildly powerful, preferably powerful enough for close-range small game.
Does anyone have any experience with air rifles? I used to shoot competitively with a pellet gun, but those were high-end target models and weren't really a utility gun, and I haven't even looked at air rifles in years and years. Don't really want a BB gun, cause those don't work so well with shooting indoors cause the BBs don't usually deform, and just bounce....though I know most BB guns allow you to shoot pellets.
Gamo Whisper. My FIL has one, and it's pretty accurate. BUT, it isn't as quiet as they lead you to believe on TV.
if you have a 22 cal rifle that can handle shorts, try and find some (aguila .22 colibri, eley prime) they are a 22 short with a 20gr bullet and no gunpowder. I used to shoot them in my winchester lever and all you heard was the hammer fall. very short range, maybe 30' and not very powerfull, enough to stun a squirel, but generaly not kill it unless very close and a perfect shot and I doubt they will cycle/feed in an autoloader, not much louder than a pellet gun when fired from a revolver.
I've heard of some of the subsonic 22 rounds that are rated at 900 fps. I can't imagine they'd be very loud at all.
these are made in mexico in a multicolored box with a pic/logo of a humming bird on it. theres a phone # if you want to call mexico and habla at them.will they go 900 fps?
