... on some guns.
A relative (don't want to be too specific right now) just passed away, leaving several weapons: rifles, shotgun, handgun and crossbow. His son doesn't hunt or have any interest. He's not in a rush to sell, but wants family to have first option. I'll get details on the entire package and post questions when I do.
Right now, the piece I'm asking about is a Ruger .45 auto. This would be my first handgun, other than a couple of old revolvers. Does anyone have any experience or advice on the Ruger?
Thanks!

Ruger is a great gun. But there are a BUNCH of models. Try to get a model ##, and we can run it thru Gunbroker to see what they are selling for

Thanks for the condolences, NG.
The old revolvers are really antiques. Both are Hopkins & Allen; one's a .32S&W 6 shot, the other a .22LR five shot. The .22 was my grandmother's 'purse gun' (grandpa was a politician) and I wouldn't try firing it. The mechanism to roll the cylinder is mucked up.
I have shot the .32, but over a 20 yard range, I couldn't find where it hit!!! 'Inaccurate' comes to mind! (It wasn't me- I can keep up with my former-Marine son on the range! (I say with pride!))
I've read that the H&A's aren't really respected- more like 'Sat. nite specials'. But they kept my grandparents alive a couple of times!

I will be getting more specific info on the estate guns in the next few days and will post/ask as I do.
Besides the Ruger, there are a couple .223's, a bolt action shotgun and an unspecified crossbow. A couple of others will probably go to my son.

IL2H- I'll PM you with those #'s if that's OK? I don't have them, yet. We will need some idea of fair-market value to help the estate.

Thanks for the responses. :rockon

Ruger realy hasn't been making autos (other than the 22's) for very long and doubt any gun store would offer more than app$250 if lucky, but that would be a fair price for family-family and make a nice sidearm or hunting b.u.g. for down here.
