after all my BS about buying retail I caved and got what I've been searching for, for a long time . an older mdl with good wood, I believe it's a 1979. it's an 8 digit ser # with no letter in front, gold trigger, microgroove bbl and no saftey. $350 and they threw in 2 boxes of 200gr core locks and 3 box match primers. it has a sling swivel, hammer extension and scope mounts someone added. man I forgot how good a lever feels in the hand. maybe someday I'll use those scope mounts, right after I get my ears and nipples pierced and grow a ponytail.
That gun is at the top of my bucket list to own, and I have not been able to land one yet. Had a few slip thru my hands over the years
I have seen a few pop on Fl Guntrader in the +/- $350 range but too far from home to make it worthwhile. Throw some of the heavy Buffalo Bore 220 gr in that thing and you have the Hammer of Thor!!
pics?
sorry too comp illiterate to post pics, can e-mail them though. can tell this one was a closet queen. I've literally been saving brass for one since the early 90'several of my friends up north used them and I have the dies, brass, bullets and powder ready to go. already put in a millet orange ramp front sight and enlarged the notch in the rear sight to make it easier on old eyes. would like to keep the hard plastic recoil pad, they don't snag clothes but a kick-eez pad really helps reduce recoil and get back on target and shooting faster, gotta see. hornady 180 gr xtp hp's (same as 357 pistol bullets) make great zombie killers, whatever you hit blows up.was at the gunsmith shop/store waiting and noticed just another 30-30, glad I decided to look closer at the tag, and the gun. he made me a good deal since I'm getting some other work done. I have damage to 3 diff ligaments in the same knee from not taking my own advice and letting it rest/heal, now I got no choice so am bussying myself working on guns and re-loading and trying not to climb the walls.
