I hear ya. I wanted mine to be short, light and set up for hunting, either in the brush or blind/stand. I like the low profile, flat top look, free of attachments to keep stuff from snagging on it walking in the woods. I do not think you could go wrong anyway you build it. After the ease of building this one I don't think I would pay the premium for a complete lower already assembled. I would spend my money on the upper and build the rest.

love the high tech tools you got there, sorry the chop stick I sent you didn't work out lol. at least you got it all together with no parts left over and didn't have to bring it to a smith in pieces. you must be a little more mechanically inclined than you let on. good job

I spent $79 on the lower. Everything else I traded for.

Yeah I was worried about not having the correct punches for the roll pins, but a nail works just the same. Sorry about that chopstick, it was one of those things where I didn't know what I didn't know. Even with good instructions, the originals sights were so hard to remove I thought I might be doing it wrong. However the new ones went in so well, I had alot more confidence.
