so I pulled the trigger, the hog breaks out in a run-takes three steps and nose dives in a sage patch. I see the hog laying there kicking. By this time there are hogs running every direction. Here comes a sow running parallel to me in a nice steady trot. I led her nose a few inches and pulled the trigger. That one takes a nose dive and actually did a head-over flip and it was about 10 yards from the first one. I ran around to the passenger door of the truck and threw the rifle down and grabbed my shotgun
So I walk out there and got a pretty sick feeling when I didn't see either hog laying there. To make a long story short I looked for over an hour and could not find either hog. I assume they both got up when I took my eyes off of them to get my shotgun. Being that I shot them with a 22mag, there was no blood. I could see the sage brush knocked down from the first one but there was so many hog tracks I couldn't tell which track was what.
Another sick feeling in your stomach when you lose an animal. I have not recovered a total of three animals in 30 + years of hunting. This year alone I have lost 5 hogs 😥 😥 😥

shoot for the head. i would of just broke out the shot gun and walked up and fired off until they were all dead.. lol.. only if it was that easy right.. lol
