I am new to hunting in south florida, but live here for 12 years already so I am familiar with the land.
No to make the long story short I am looking for good places to hunt for quail and rabbits and I prefer south florida.
Any input is appreciated. Have my own dogs that miss hunting, been like three years since the last time they had a feather on their mouth....
Tanks guys
where in south fl. big area. what coast??
One of the guys who lives over here on the west coast (johnl) used to post about driving over past Okeechobee and doing some rabbit hunting. I think it was a WMA that had some old citrus groves, but he's never shared which one (can't blame a guy for protecting his honey-hole!).
Allapattah Flats has a small game season November 17 through January 13, and dogs are allowed, shotgun only. Probably other WMAs nearby with small game seasons. Just have to check the brochures.
Yes. The jb Corbbet have a small game season, but been there two times already and have no signs of rabbits or quail. My dogs found a lot of raccoons but those are not for me. I guess on the small Mae season you re allowed to hunt at night and that may be a better ticket.
I am starting to explore the hunting grounds in Florida and I know if may take me a seasons or two to find the game. So far I been covering a lot of ground on corbbet and only daw few deer does and only one male at the distance probably 300yd away over the canal, way far from my range
I guess time will tell.
