This will be my first hunting season here in central florida and was wonder what week seems to be the peak of the rut here. I live in west melbourne and will just be hunting the public lands around Brevard county. I wont have a lot of time to hunt this year so I was wanting to try and plans some time around the rut. Any help would be appriciated.

djhunter, If you will go to the FWC web site, click on Hunting, whitetailed deer management program you will find information and a map from a recent study that gives the various dates for the peak of the rut all across the state. It shows peaks in the Glades to be in July and peaks in the Panhandle in mid Feb. and the rest of the state is somewhere in between. This is why deer season comes in by zones rather than state wide. Looks like Brevard County's magic time is in October. Treefarmer

Keep in mind, those dates are "average conception date." For example, if it shows the date as Oct 15, then most of the does get bred on or around that date on average. That means the bucks are locked down with the does and breeding, not up and roaming and chasing and acting foolish..You want to be hunting before that date by several weeks
