Water levels are going to be a MAJOR factor this season. Especially bow and m/l. Even moreso if this storm goes up the west coast. Here is what I am seeing...
*Water levels are high and driven game out of the swamps that are now flooded
*Hickory nuts are already dropping, as are persimmons. 2 weeks ago I noticed water oaks dropping. Now I am noticing acorns dropping around the house here, even live oaks which don't drop till around mid-late October
*skeeters are horrible. Deer don't like them any more than we do. I have noticed historically on years of high water, the deer will hang closer to the roads. I am finding quite a bit of bedding spots where deer have layed down within 50 yards of the roads.

*Find a dry spot in thick cover with a trail leading to a hammock with acorns dropping and you should be successful. I love it wet. This is gonna be a good season

It'll be a great year for us because 90% of the idjits (including me) have all their stands in hammocks where it's flooded in my lease. Most are also too lazy to move them also. I am lucky as I have 3 ladder stands to put up and 2 that are in pines and huntable.

Same here, I am going up next weekend to hang 3 stands, I will be paying attention to roadsides and high areas on the topo map now.

That's what I have been doing. I look the roads for tracks like I'm doggin and see where the concentration of deer are and it's definitely in the higher areas... which are also normally closer to the roads.

LMAO. Just when I think I have a plan..
I had to go out to Tarpon Springs today. Going down T.S. Boulevard right next to Matt Geiger's house there is 2 does standing chest deep in water. Matter of fact, one of them was almost up to her neck. I guess they were eating some aquatic plant as this was a cypress head that looked full of vegetation as I was driving by it
