Spring is definitely the best time to start a mineral site. I went ahead and poured it out on a rotten pine stump for the heck of it. Not something I would ever buy, it was just given to me and figured I'd try it.

I used it once. It burned my nose like crazy so I threw the rest away.

Not a pro, but have put mineral blocks out over the years with mixed results.
