I have three kids ages 3, 5 and 7 .They have all been hunting with me quite a bit and have seen a bunch of deer in my truck but the youngest two haven't been when I killed a deer. So This morning I took my 5 year old girl. We got to the woods and set up on time and watched the sun peak up with no action besides the rats and birds. And of course it didnt take long for her to get cold, despite my best efforts of dressing her properly, so by 7:00 she was in my lap under my jacket. Just a bit later out comes a deer, so I get her to see it ,got the deer to stop , made sure she had her ears plugged and took my shot all while holding her with my left hand and my rifle with my right. Thank goodness for good shooting sticks !!! . As soon as he fell she asked where he went and was ready to go see him. Well when we got to him I wasnt sure how she would react to a fresh kill but she jumped right in there, nothing but smiles, grabbing his antlers and checking him out.She told me I was going to have to help her drag him because he was to heavy for her.
It can sure be a challenge to take them but I love having my kids with me in the woods. Now her little brother and older sister are even more fired up..

Awesome man! I always sit in the stand with one of my kids. I dont think ive been in a stand alone once in the past 2 years.

At first id rotate with having my wife with me or a kid. But now that my wife hunts on her own wr both take a kid to the stand!
