What kind of tree would be good to plant on my property to attract games in future.
Something that doesn't require a lot of attention or maintnanace would be plus.
From what I have read on a lot of forums......sawtooth oak. produces acorns in 6 years

If you are looking for an early season deer magnate Persimmon will grow quickly, and deer will consistantly come by if there is still 1 fruit on the tree. they like to be dry, but with in feet of water. It is crazy where they will grow. Needs to be an open area. Fertilizer 1 time a year maybe twice, and you will have a gold mine. One small thing I believe you need male, and female trees close together to produce friut on a regular basis. Don't know if that is the right terms, but you need cross pollination for them to produce.
On several occasions I have watched a deer bed right in a patch. When a piece of friut would fall the deer would get up eat it do some business maybe. Than bed down till the next piece fell. If you already have oaks that just fertilize them. Also planting pears, grape vine, and apple. drive deer crazy.
We just had 50 acres clearcutted in the middle of our property. There is a 30' tall persimmons in the middle that was covered up with persimmons last year. We got the logger to tag it and it should be the only tree left on that piece when they're done. They had just started when we left last week so I'm jonesing to see how it looks now. Should be a good edge to hunt this year. I've seen pears planted in Ga quite a few times. I believe you can buy a tree that will be producing pretty quick and I can vouch for them being deer magnets.
It's alot cheaper to scout and find what they're eating. If you're in Tally and hunting the Apalach NF then finding the food sources is a piece of cake compared to most places.
