Anyone that chooses not to vote has no right to biotch about anything that goes on in this country. Sorry but that is my opinion

X2
Talking to the younger generation I feel a discourse in their attitudes when it comes to voting. I think they feel no matter what they vote it won't make a difference anyways. Watching and listening to old shows (Midnight Special!) their opinions echo those of many young people in the early 70's. Not that I'm of that way of thinking, but just making a comparison.

let us feed on this....

WHO is the electoral college? All the Constitution says , i believe-- Is NO elected officials and NO federal employees. I believe the Governors of each state pick the electoral college. But yet it is their vote that counts.

The other thing i don't really get , is that on election day, by the end of the day they can tell you who won that state. And not all the polling stations have reported yet.. But if a recount is needed, it takes them weeks to do it.

I believe that TO a point. Whether any of you feel the same way or not, I believe there are some exceptions to this. As a disabled vet and a Purple Heart reciepient , i believe that I have earned the right to biotch about certain things. Myself along thousands of others have sacrificed more than most of the politicians running this country, for this country. don't get me wrong, i would gladly do it all over again.

I kind of started this thread, just really to see how many people actually know how the election process really works.

Yeah Scott, I am fully aware of how the process works, and thank you for serving our country. Look, you are a friend of mine and I din't mean to come across like I am snapping. But voting is just about the only say we as Americans have in this country. We as voters elect our officials to represent us, good or bad.
I have a friend who has the same exact philosophy on this as you. He and I have argued this same point over and over again
I just get tired of these crooked ass politicians raping us and taxing us to death, and all we have in our power is to go to the polls and punch a card. I missed one election soon after I turned 18. I was "too busy" or "just didn't feel like it". It has haunted me for years not doing my civic duty that one time.
Anyone that does not think every vote is important, might I remind you of the election several years back in George W. vs Al Gore...We didn't have a president~elect for about 3 months....right here in Flawduh

There have only been 3 times that the electoral vote differed from the popular vote. 2 times in the 1800's and the 2000 one. All 3 went to the Republicans. Most states have rules that discourage electors from voting against what they pledged, so most times the popular vote is reflected in the electoral vote.
