10-4. I'm really starting to like that dog, she's cold trailing, will jump into a race from the road, and once she gets under one she drives it. Son, I'm talkin fast.
Kept reading about your plotts, and realized I wasn't sure what a plott was, even though I'm pretty familiar with most dog breeds. So I looked them up and found a great description at http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/plotthound.htm with some good pictures of various examples. Now I know I've seen them before, just always thought of them as coondogs or hounds. Now I know something new, and have a better appreciation of the breed.
Apologies for the threadjack!
I have PM'd the gent and rather than asking a real question it appears he asks an attack on anyone hunting in a high fence environment. He and I PM'd and no offense is meant based on a real question verse attacks. I apologize if I offended folks as not my intention.
Now understand just because you see something upon entering does not mean they do not run like the wind to evade. I have whitetails here in Illinois that will stand there longer and we do not even have barb wire on the farms we hunt. Even our place in Pike County, IL bordered by Hadley Creek Outfitters the deer are calmer and they get shot at nonstop.
This ranch is a great place to hunt and your success is going to be high so long as you can hunt, there were 4 hunters when we got there who did not shoot anything other than one hog. I have seen it over and over and over and a day lease is not an easy hunt in Texas, sure guides to thier job putting you in an area for the animals but the rest is up to the animals and you. I have run dogs and well it is chasing a dog and fun but not my favorite, however I blast nobody for it and respect that type of hunting because it is hunting first and foremost. Take the baiting of animals and that is a very controversial issue yet one I respect a persons choice to do.
Enjoy hunting because it is what we do.
Many people knock baiting up north and yet they hunt corn fields.Things are different everywhere you go. My only problem with hi-fences is that the animals are usually replaced as they are shot and they really don't have any escape routes. The game is raised on farms and released instead of being born wild and learning to survive.Once the hunting pressure starts in most places game becomes nocturnal and weary, they don't have that option in a pen. I think they're great for those who don't have time to hunt or scout, gets them outside and gets the bug out of their system.
