Well I'm back from my trip...
Got in to Oregon Friday the 18th sited in my bow and went off to hunt the afternoon. Had a few obstacles to overcome the ranchers were letting their cows graze in our hunting area and reeked havoc on our watering holes. There were also people sitting in our stands and didnt leave until mon. These people shot a nice bull elk off the stand i help them put up there two years ago and could not find it. After they left we found it 500 yrds up the creek gut shot.That was all the weekend i got there.The elk weren't talking and didn't see any elk. Went back to camp and ate some grub went to bed and started fresh in the morning.
So we were in search of mule deer bucks.The first buck we saw was on Monday mid day bedded under a tree. I shot underneath at 35 yrd. The second one was on Tuesday and I got winded stalking at 45 yrd. Wednesday we drove around in the morning calling for elk with no luck. Mid day I did some gold prospecting and ate some lunch by the evening we were driving up a ridge and we saw a chocolate bear and we were able to get to a place to take a shot. The bear was 200lbs and was killed with a 357 mag handgun. For the rest of the week there were no elk and a couple spike deer were shot at and missed.

Sounds like a good trip either way! I wish i could go out west again, it's beautiful to say the least.
