Well i went the past weekend to GA with Kemster. And i had a great time. GA country is so dam beautiful. I m considering getting a lease up there and doing alot of hunting there when i figure out the area. People were so nice it was like a dream.

Well we got up there thurs night at like 12 and went right to sleep. Woke up at 5 am on friday morning and went right to the stands. I didnt see nothing that morning. Went back to camp had lunch and hung out with all the great people in camp. Went back to the stand at 5 pm for a late hunt. I was sitting in the stand and at 7:30 pm i saw a doe about 35 yards behind a bush, She was looking back and a small buck (pretty sure it was a buck) walked in with 3 more does. So i sat tight and she was just staring at the stand. I slowly put my hand on the bow and she was just ears up and all over me. So she put her head down for a sec and i reached for the range finder. As soon as i pressed the button on the rangefinder she ran with the rest of the deer about 30 yards behind my stand to the right. She blew and i blew back. She blew again but with a higher pitch and i could not mimic that so she and the rest of them just walked calmly away behind me. I had actually saw them bedded down 200 yards and they i guess saw me and came in to see what was up.. Anyway i got busted and didnt kill a deer that night. Went back to hunt camp had dinner and went back to bed.

The next morning woke up and same thing 5 am and saw nothing. Did see prints of where the deer were last night tho. Back to camp lunch nap and back out at 5pm. At first i walked to one of the 2 man ladders on the food plot but the sun was all over it cause they clear cut and there was no shade. I climbed up and felt like i was in a microwave warming up a turkey breast.. lol so got down and walked to a tripod about 100 yards away. As i walked out , through the food plot and when i got to the edge of the food plot it was thick. So i was just pushing through it and my bow kept getting caught on stuff so i was like whatever, went through it and climbed up the stand. No sooner did i get half way up the stand and i heard a deer coming in from behind. I had the wind in my face. I got to the top and right as i put my butt in the seat here comes a doe and her spotted fawn. Im like hell yea shes done. So i grab my bow and shes still there about 20 yards away. She puts her head down and i stand up, im like ok good stuff. she was only concerned about that spotted fawn and didnt care what i was doing. So i pick up the bow and go to draw back and take my thumb to feel the release and NOTHING. NO RELEASE. i was like damit WTF. when i was walking through that thick stuff the release fell off my bow and i didnt know. So by that time the deer was about 25 yards and i was thinking "should i finger shoot it" Well i never shot my bow like that. The deer stayed there just hanging out and i didnt take the shot cause i had no release. I climbed down the stand and she was still there. I walked to the food plot and there it was in the grass, my release. Oh well i got back to the stand and she was already in the bushes and i had no shot.

I feel good that i didnt get overwhelmed and try to take a finger shot. I would of probably just made a crappy shot and either just wounded the deer or never found it. So i made the right decision. Soon after i saw about 6 deer about 65 yards behind me but i had no shot and they were too far. They just messed around for a while and then went into the thick and that was it.

next morning again.. nothing, Packed up and went home. I had a great time in GA. and it was a LEARNINING EXPERIENCE for me. I learned more about deer this past weekend then i ever knew. You read all this stuff on books but its better to just take those mags and books and use it as toilet paper. You have to be there in the woods in the stand to learn. I learned alot. And i could of shot at that deer but i chose not to.

Oh well had a great time. Busted my ASSS on one of the camp chairs and that was enough to have my laughing the ride home. LOL..
