Yeah, but the Niceville Mullet Festival is a big event that gets lots of local media attention, like the Citrus and Strawberry Festivals do down here. It lasts a week or more, and has concerts and midway rides. When I lived up in Ft Walton Beach we went over and saw John Anderson one day and Billy Ray Cyrus the next (during his "Achy Breaky Heart" days).

I'm hoping to make it to the next one. Didn't find out about this year's until after it was over.
There used to be a guy who had a roadside stand out on SR 64 near Morgan Johnson Rd. My sister lives out that way and we used to stop by and get some of his smoked mullet. He claimed to have won some local cook-offs in years past. Haven't seen him for 2-3 years, since that area has really been building up.
yeah, those guys are moved on to another area, i remember seeing them near that intersection. cortez fishing village has some tasty festivals you should check out.
