Hello forum members:
It is a pleasure to be part of this forum. I’ve been reading posts for the past couple of weeks and I feel confident that I’ll be learning a lot from you all. I’ll probably be asking some “dumb” questions, but I think that is the way to learn from more experienced hunters.
A little information about myself.
My name is Luis, aka Mr. Lolo. I live in Riverview. I was born in New Haven, CT, but moved to Puerto Rico at a very young age. I relocated to Florida 7 years ago. I’ve been hunting Green Swamp WMA for the past 3 years and still trying to figure out how to get my first dear (I only hunted dove and waterfowl before moving here). So far, this has been my most successful season. The first 2 years didn’t see anything other than squirrels and hunters. This year I changed my strategy/approach to scouting and it worked. I hunted every weekend during archery and saw deer (does) and hogs every time, but to far to shoot (I don’t shot at anything beyond 25 yards). Got the second half of the first 9 days of GG and killed a 90 pound sow the first day on my stand. After that, I only saw does. Also did a couple of squirrel hunts with my youngest son and got 4 the first time (2 weeks ago) and 7 last Saturday (Dec. 26).
For me hunting is an excuse to spend time outdoors, and I measure a successful hunting trip not by the kill but how much fun did I have. Obviously I do like to take game once in a while.
Looking forward to participate in the dialogue here.
See you around….
