Years ago we used to go out to Stump Pass at night around Memorial Day (end of May, first of June) and catch shrimp with dip nets as they would float by on an outgoing tide. We'd catch 5-10 pounds in just a couple of hours, and these were good size shrimp.

A few years later, when I was stationed in Biloxi, MS we'd go to the back bay and catch them with a bait net. We'd get a can of dog food, poke a bunch of holes in it with an ice pick, and toss it at the edge of a grass flat. We'd let it sit for an hour or so, then shine a light and there'd be shrimp all over the place feeding on the dog food chum slick! We'd throw the net, catch a couple dozen, wait 10 minutes, do it again.

Anyone here catch shrimp? When, where, how?

i went out last year and the year before about this time and also i want to say at some time in the winter, i remember the water being VERY cold, we waded with lights and dip nets. around anna maria and other visible grass flats from the road if you see lots of lights out on the flats then its time. thats usually when i head out after i see others already out there. my dad will probably go within the next week or so to see if there are any of any size out there and he will call me to go with him. last year we didnt get too many of size. the year before was a good year.

Went there earlier and wasn't impressed. Lots of stuff didn't work, like the Google map that's supposed to show places to go shrimping. I think the purpose of the site is just to sell the guy's contraptions.
