Got five pounds of large to medium shrimp near mayport there are lots of shrimp in the river it's just finding the big ones that's the trick
Man, there's some great shrimp up in that area. We used to live on Jekyll Island just north of there and a guy that worked for my dad had a bait shrimp license. He lived near Woodbine and would catch huge eating size shrimp (15-20 count) while bait shrimping. He couldn't legally sell them, but he could set them aside in 10-pound bags for his friends! We ate a lot of shrimp!
The shrimp are out now. Filled a bucket this weekend in two hours throwing the net solo. Decent size, could be bigger.
Man, it's so hot down here I can't imagine the shrimp running. Most of the shrimp at the bait shops are smaller than the jigs. Have to hand pick them this time of year.
