One of the good guys from church invited the associate pastor and yours truly to go after sheephead this morning. We hit several bait shops at sunrise but no one had live shrimp so we settled for frozen and a couple dozen fiddler crabs and launched at Big Lagoon in fog so thick you couldn't see more than 40 yards. We had to idle all the way to the pass and we still had the uptight pucker worrying about running over someone or something. Thank God for saved tracks on the gps or we would've wound up on a sandbar.
Finally made it to the pass around 8 am in HEAVY fog and started drifting with the tide and running back to the marker in the entrance. I boated 4 or 5 good sized sheephead before the AP hooked up with his first. (He threatened to call me out from the pulpit!)
All told, we wound up with 16 nice sheephead and 1 flounder around 3 1/2-4 pounds. Not bad for a pea soup morning with the wrong bait!
That's a nice mess of convict's. :toast
nice job!!
