Black drum are a blast to catch. I prefer eating the reds. here is an old recipe/joke my grampa used to tell people about black drum. Hey man ya know the best way to cook those is to clean em, put butter lemons and onion on em and put em on a nice board and put it in the oven.....when the fish is done throw it out and eat the board. Dont know why grampa didnt like black drum, i have eaten them and theyy r just fine.
Your Grandpa might be right about the black drum at least the bigger ones. The BIG ones are filled with worms. i found that about a couple of years ago. I brought home a 25 pounder and was pretty grossed out. I have seen that in trout before but the amount in that big drum was pretty gross. The smaller ones are just fine though.
