For the last 10 years I've been wanting to do a hunt out of the south east. I've had leases in Alabama and Georgia for a while and Florida the last 2 years. I'm thinking Illinois, Ohio, Kansas or somewhere where there are some real bruisers. Anyone else interested in trying to plan a week long trip somewhere for next year? I've got one buddy that I know would go if it gets set up. I see a lot of other guys on a georgia site head north and was thinking if I plan it out right I could slip away for a week. Any one else have any experience doing hunts like this? I'd rather not use an outfitter but would rather hook up with a farmer or someone with a decent amount of land. Maybe we could set up a forum hunt with a few guys from the site? Just a thought. I have no idea where to start without calling an outfitter. Any interest or help?
I've seen ads on Craigslist from places in KY and IN that were just farmers willing to let hunters come up and shoot some deer. I wouldn't mind getting in on something like this.

I talked to these guys a couple of years ago. It seems as though they are doing something right as they have a lot of members and more land available. You might want to check them out if you are not wanting to use an outfitter. I never did it because I'm still a little new to the sport and felt I wouldn't have been able to do it on my own.
