You mean....shoot some hogs....only yanks say shoot some BOAR!
:clap I knew I belonged here!!! I've NEVER said, "boar"!!!
I got my gun/shooter safety course in the service. I guess they figure that once you have somebody shootin at you and you shoot back that you don't need to take the fish and game safety course.
I was surprised to read on the FWC site that LEO and military training does not substitute for the hunter safety course. If you were born before June 1, 1975 you are exempt though.
Law enforcement and military personnel are not exempt from the hunter education certification requirement. The course is required for anyone born on or after June 1, 1975. Gun safety is just one of the twelve subjects that are taught at the hunter safety courses. For more information on hunter safety courses, please visit our website at http://myfwc.com/SAFETY/Safety_Hunt_Safety_index.htm .
However, Florida residents in the U.S. Armed Service stationed outside of Florida are exempt from purchasing a license if you are home on leave for 30 days or less. If you are exempt from purchasing a license, you are exempt from having to take the hunter safety course. When hunting, be sure to carry your leave orders with you in case you are stopped by one of our law enforcement officers. Just remember, once you're discharged or if you get stationed in Florida, you will have to take a hunter safety course in order to purchase your hunting license
Wow, I just checked Indiana's DNR website, and my Hunter's Education class and Boater's Education class are still on there and I can request a duplicate. I took the courses in 7th grade. They took 2 weeks out of our physical education class in junior high to teach both of the courses. It was nice not to have to pay any money or get my parents to drive me anywhere to get the course. Gotta love the rural midwest.
