Well, the reviews didn't say that it was the entire time at dusk and dawn, only at the beginning of the transition for daytime to dusk and daybreak to sun up.
I picked up a couple IR40's a couple weeks back. After about 100 picks the batteries were at 97% still. Pics looked good also. I will say that I've never had so many pics with them looking at the cam though. My buddy picked up a couple of the Wildgame Innovations IRS2 cams for $50 each at Bass Pro in Orlando this weekend for me also. After just 2 days I can say they seem to work good but time will tell. Pulled them back out and will set them up in Big Cypress this weekend so if they're gone when I go back I'm only out $100. I got a sales flyer for Bass Pro that starts on Aug. 6th and they'll have the d50 for $69 if interested but it'll have a regular flash. I think I'll pick a few of those up just because.
If I was going to buy another game cam today, It would be the Bushnell Trophy cam. They have a IR model too. They run from $180-200, but they claim the batteries last up to a year. That is a great deal because running three cameras I spend a mini fortune in batteries every year
Moultrie does have 2 new cams out this year. The d-55, and the d-55IR. You can read the reviews on chasingame.com
Looking at the Primos Truth cams. It sounds like the 1.5 second reaction time is about the best I can get. The reviews indicate that the cameras have a difficult time right a dusk and dawn determining whether to use daytime or nighttime mode and the pictures get washed out, but at all other times the pics and video looks pretty good.
been hearing good things about them Primos cameras. from what i understand with the washout pics is that it is only for a minute or two. switches into IR to soon and back to early. Saw some pics from this camera on a nother forum and they look really good. Moultrie doesn't make the D-40s anymore. the replacement can be gotten in regular flash or IR. it think it is the d-55.
Buy many and buy cheap, there is one in the new bass pro ad that starts Aug 6 that has the IR flash.
