I'm looking to buy a couple of game cams. I've seen several of them out there, and they are all different. Now, the best ones that I could find, are also the most expensive. So, based on what I'm looking to spend, and what's out there, what are your opinions of the cams in the $100-$130 range? I want one with IR, but I'm not hooked on the 8 and 10 megapixel cameras. I saw a Primos cam with IR for like $129 with 5mp, and 35 with a 1.5 second response time. I am totally clueless on cameras, so I'm looking for some solid advice here. Battery life is something that none of the camera specs say anything about. I know some have very bad reps, and I'll stay away from those.
Thanks.

But does the D40 come with a IR flash? I thought it was only a regular flash. I was trying to avoid spookin the deer and hogs.

I've only had 1 exp with them (bad) stay away from 35mm film, between the cost of film, batteries and developing it's better to get something with a memory stick ( whatever that is). as you may notice I know s from shinola about them myself.

I have a few cams but don't know much. The d40's seem to work good for me but I think they are a little slow. They work great around feeders but seem to be a little slow on trails. My next cams will be IR cause I do think the flash spooks game a little. Especially the older wiser bucks we're all looking for. I've heard of guys putting their cams a little higher and angling them down to act like lightning from the sky but haven't tried it yet.

I've heard the same thing about the screens on the I40's. As far as film goes, I can't think of 1 reason to use that type of cam. With the memory stick I can check my pics right there at the cam or replace the stick and bring the other 1 back to camp and download the pics right there. Spend the money and get an IR with the fastest shutter speed you can get and you won't regret it. JMO

Looking at the Primos Truth cams. It sounds like the 1.5 second reaction time is about the best I can get. The reviews indicate that the cameras have a difficult time right a dusk and dawn determining whether to use daytime or nighttime mode and the pictures get washed out, but at all other times the pics and video looks pretty good.
