I never have, but if I'm on public land and come across an empty ladderstand bolted to a tree I wouldn't hesitate to use it if I thought I would be able to shoot something from it. I've come across a couple and thought "why in the hell did they put it here?" and kept on my merry way. if I was sitting in someone's stand and they came up and asked me to leave I would.

Interesting. I did notice that most hunters are pretty cool. They all wave to you as your driving by and so on. I just worry about that one hunter that gets so mad that he stares at you in his scope. That worries me.

Yes the fool that thinks he is the king of the woods or the one that wants to just kick someone ass even when they are wrong!

Now my opinion is .. If i have a "climber" down and someone actually gets in it and "climbs up" a tree with it.. i would kinda get a little mad and ask the guy "so you just use peoples stands and thats it?"...

first off , if you left a climber hooked on a tree, i sure hope you would put a cable lock on it, securing it to the tree,,,,, and no one could climb up on it in that situation. secondly, if you did leave it unsecured, your a JACK**S and its gonna be stolen, come on they get stolen even when locked, why push your chances?

back to the original deal,,,,,,,, we have pretty much all discussed this before,,,,,,,, you shouldnt just climb into someone elses stand,,,,,,,,,, dont let the fact that its there "bar" you from the area, but be courteous and respectful if you ever run into that other person,,,,,, heck, try and figure who it belongs to, and get to know them and their habits, maybe get there permission, or know when they wont be there so you can set your own stand nearby if you truly like the area. Dont be one of those MO's that hunt it just cuz you saw some else has set a stand, and figure on cashing in on their scouting and expertise, they might not know a dam thing. and just cuz they arent there when you see it, doesnt mean they wont be right behind you, maybe its rackmans stand, and its gonna be cold with a frost, and the "major feed" is at about 9 or so,,,,,, you know he wont be outa bed and heading to that stand till 8 or so, what makes you think you have the right to climb into "his stand" just because your there first?

And yes, it is public land, and putting up a stand doesnt make that "your own little peice of land" but you did put the work and effort into hopefully scouting the spot, buying or building the stand and draggin it in and setting it up,,,,,, why should my lazy A** just feel your work was to benefit me, and dont put in my own?
