ok its time to prove my old man wrong.. we all know when we use a climbing treestand we sit on the bar and face the tree and climb but i saw this one stand the u sit with ur back to the tree and climb can someone give me some evidence to prove my ol man wrong he says u haveto sit facin the tree
Climb it facing the tree that way if it slips you can grab the tree. That happened to me about a month ago and I cut my arms up pretty bad but atleast I didn't drop
15 ft
im not asking how to climb just give me some hard evidence u can do it facing away from the tree
There's so many different climbers out there now that there's no right or wrong answer. Way back I used Baker climbers that had a platform and another piece that you held on to to pull yourself up while standing. There's a viper bow hunting model that I don't understand how to climb with because there is no bar to sit on while climbing.

Never try to prove your Dad wrong it can't be done. I'm 62 and it can't be done not matter what. Yea Dad is still going strong at 82. Just thinking about going up a tree backwards is just wrong. I would be interested in seeing this stand that you saw doing it. I have a Summit Viper and find it hard enough just getting the teeth unlocked to take the next step up.
I've never seen a climber where you face away from the tree to climb. I climb pretty high when I can and would rather face the tree so I can grab on if something goes wrong. Make sure you post up if you do find the 1 your talking about.
