if you realy want the 270 wsm or 300 win mag ( fine ctg's ) maybe upgrade just a lttle to the sako 7 1/2 pounder, with a thicker diam/heavier bbl and wood laminate stock. if hunting from a stand a couple of extra pounds won't matter, but will make a world of difference in accuracy, recoil reduction and shooting comfort as well as being able to hold it steadier, jmo. no such thing as one gun does all. I use lightest to heaviest depending on conditions, and can easily hit a kill zone with all to 2-300 yds.
Nacho,I'm so screwed up in the head when it comes to making a final decision it aint funny. I will definitly take your advice into consideration before final purchase.Might even tote you with me.
Buy the dang thing and lets go shootin. I need to go burn some gun powder anyway. I want to get my rifle checkin out of the way before too long
Come on up. Might have somethin' soon. BTW,no fleas on those two chickens, and they're doing good.
I take it you don't reload.personaly when it comes to guns I want it all and am very picky and finicky and will always seem to alter whatever I buy in some way or another. generaly i like and use my shortest bbl lightest gun the most 7mm08 bolt under 6 lbs with a leupold 1.5-5 power scope, it is lighter and faster to get on target up close on running game ( when set on 1.5 power ) than my winchester lever or shotguns. and still able to hit 4" metal spinners at 200 yds without much trouble. but I don't like recoil, but want alot of stopping power. the 270 wsm does it all well and is about the heaviest recoil I would want to put up with in a light gun, that is my top end. the 300 I would not have in anything under 7-8 pounds. if not elk hunting a reg 270 or 30-06 are perfectly capable of 300yd shots, and probably a more practical choice and ammo will be easier to find and cheaper. but logic and rationality rarely comes into play when I buy a gun. I get a bug in my head and want what I want, I think thats what youre feeling. of those 2 calibers you listed,( my prefference ) would be the 270 wsm. just ask to feel one of the heavier versions before making a final decision. the brownings have some nice features a drop box mag, tang thumb safety short angle bolt throw, but wish I had bought mine with a thicker bbl and sltly heavier laminated wood stock, but again I am really splitting hairs now.
