Gaiters are the way to go. Got them last year and used them everytime I went hunting down here. They get a little warm but not too bad.

I wear mine everytime I go into the woods. I had several close encounters while not wearing any and I don't want to be. I wear the snakeproof 'rubber' boots from Cabelas and really like them for archery/BP season. It combines the scent-free boot with the snake protection.

I have couple pairs of Rockys and Redhead neither leak. Good to have but I still am aware of where I walk and step. The best waterproof boots are no good when the water I cross is deeper than the boots are tall. LOL I have been up to my chest crossing creeks during Turkey season. Yea I am a diehard hunter or just a little lose wrapped.

I've always worn them. Don't want to chance it. But every pair I have ever gotten has leaked as well untill I got a pair of Muck woody armour boots and I love them. A buddy of mine has had them for two years and they havn't leak at all. Seem to be the best snake boot you can get.
