Good luck and don't worry so much about them, enjoy the woods.
Thats how I feel about it...Im not worried.
thanks for the information
We both just wear mud boots, and have had a fair amount of close viewings of snakes. I hear people talk about wet feet all the time. I hate wet feet, and you can't keep me out of the water.
We breed snakes for a hobby, maybe we have snake zen, and the wild snakes leave us alone.
I have water proof Lacrosse Snake boots that slip on and are knee high that I have had for 5 years. They only get worn once I get to the hunting spot where I change into them and back out of them before I get into the truck or back to camp. No leaks yet. Never had a close encounter but my buddy I hunt with in GA runs into a rattle snake every time we hit the woods... Maybe I just pass by them and don't notice....
Better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them. I don't worry about snakes but I hunt alone a majority of the time and it reassures me a little to wear them. I've had 3 really close encounters with moccasins, twice I was marking my trail out and not paying attention to where I was walking and came within a foot of stepping on them, the 3rd time I was walking out of a swamp at dark and slid my foot right under one and it was stretched out across the toe of my boot. Not one of them struck but all of them could have tagged me easily.
I have gaitors. mostly to keep my legs dry. but they are extra insurance. got the gaitor habit hunting out west.
