Just my two cents, they all promise a lot and most don't last. I have a new pair of venoms and they seem ok. I try and stay out of the water if possible and I have tried the chap and they work but are hot as hell. Just do your home work and go and try them on some where before you buy. I hate ordering them and they don't fit.

Keep in mind there is a difference between chaps and gaiters. You're right, the chaps are hot. Also they are selling gaiters in the fishing section at wally world like I have. They sell them as 'stingray guards'.

I am wearing the Lacrosse mudlites. Had them for about six months now, and I hunt/use them about twice a week. The price was right and they are waterproof (rubber boot style with snake protection). The thing I really like about them is that they are light and they are not a "hot" boot. The material they use on the inside let your feet breath somehow. I don't feel the suction effect I normally feel when taking other rubber boots off. I also had a pygmy strike my foot when I wasn't paying attention, and they worked.

I had ordered chaps but when I opened up the box the chaps only had snake plates from your knee down. I sent them back and got the boots instead.

I had also ordered some side zip snake boots and immediately sent them back because I could tell the zipper was not going to last frequent use. Didn't want the ones that lace up and couldn't afford the Justin cowboy style.

Still looking for a good set of full length chaps with snake protection up to the thigh that won't break the bank.
